Torrey Life Science or simply "TLS", is one of the primary sites of biology research and education at the University of Connecticut. It is located at 75 North Eagleville Rd., Storrs CT 06269. ==History== The George Safford Torrey Life Sciences Building was built in 1961 on the Storrs campus of the University of Connecticut. In 1980, the building was named in honor of Torrey, former head of the university's botany department. Torrey, who came to Connecticut Agricultural College in the fall of 1915 to teach botany, became head of the Department of Botany in 1929 and served in that role until 1953. A collection of his papers, including notebooks, correspondence, memoranda, administrative records, reports, photographs, and various types of slides and filmstrips are housed in the Archives & Special Collections at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center. The Torrey Life Sciences Building houses offices for the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, the Department of Physiology and Neurobiology, the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, and Biology Central Services.
